Savour local produce, sip on craft beer and wine and rub shoulders with some famous Australians when North Lakes Library opens its doors to a fresh new event - From Cultivation to Creation next month.
Mayor Allan Sutherland encouraged residents to put Friday, 14 June in their calendars if they want to get up close and personal with accomplished journalist Madonna King, internationally-renowned horticulturalist and botanist Jerry Coleby-Williams and celebrity chefs Alastair McLeod and Matt Golinski to celebrate the region’s creative community.
“Soak-in local music, browse displays from local artists and sample local produce as you explore cuisine culture, sustainability and creativity all in one location,” he said.
“The Moreton Bay Region is an exciting place to live in and we are continually exploring ways to enhance and enrich experiences for our community.
“The best part about this library event is that you don’t have to be a bookworm, gastronome or a green-thumb to have a good time —this event celebrates all forms of creativity.”
Councillor for Division 4 Julie Greer said it was a coup to have four of Australia’s biggest names in culture and cuisine right here in Moreton Bay.
“Our libraries are evolving from quiet places of information to vibrant cultural hubs,” she said.
“What better way to celebrate our local artisans and provide a haven for discovery and storytelling than at a library with Madonna King, Jerry Coleby-Willams, Alastair McLeod and Matt Golinski.”
Cr Greer said there would be lots on offer including a pop-up museum, gallery shop, local wine, free edible plants and more.
The free From Cultivation to Creation event is on Friday 14 June between 5.30pm and 7.30pm at North Lakes Library. Bookings are essential.
