Community groups in Division 2 will share in more than $7700 in the first round of Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Community Grants Program for 2018/19.
Divisional Councillor Peter Flannery said the funding would help drive a range of sporting, cultural and charity projects within Division 2
“I’m particularly excited to announce council will support the Deception Bay Neighbourhood Centre Inc. with more than $2900 to allow them to undertake four community activities to be held in Skye Blue Park for the local community,” he says.
“These activities are about bringing the community together to promote healthy childhood development.
“I am also excited to announce $2000 to Australian Care and Trauma Services (ACTS) Inc. for them to purchase two computers and an additional $1000 for the Artisans Guild of Caboolture and District Inc. to promote and improve members’ painting skills through the delivery of three artist workshops.
“We’ve also been able to support Blind Bats Inc with $1800 to purchase an adaptive golf kit to support visually impaired people play golf.
“Council’s Community Grants Program is really about empowering community organisations to take pride and ownership in making the Moreton Bay Region an even better place to live and visit and this grant will help the club hit plenty of goals now and into the future.
Cr Flannery congratulated all successful applicants and encouraged other community groups and individuals interested in applying for the next round of the Community Grants Program to visit council’s website for more information.
Applications for the second round of the 2018-19 program will open on February 1.
