Santa Set to Delight Crowds as Newport Kicks Off the Festive Season with Free, Outdoor Movie Night

Santa will swap his famous sleigh for a classic convertible when he cruises into Stockland’s Newport community on Saturday, 1 December, as part of a free, fun-filled Christmas celebration from 4.30pm to 8pm, culminating with an outdoor movie.

Santa will hand out treats to children as he journeys through the community’s streets at 4.30pm, before moving to Newport Park, on Spinnaker Boulevard, at 5.30pm for selfies with the young and the young at heart.

Children will have an array of exciting festive craft activities to keep them entertained, including painting wooden Christmas trees, creating and decorating Christmas wrapping paper and making Christmas cards and decorations.

Families can then settle down on their picnic blankets for a special screening of the movie Elf on a giant outdoor screen as the sun sets.

David Laner, Acting Queensland General Manager for Residential Communities at Stockland, encouraged all residents from Newport and the surrounding area to join the celebrations at the park.

“This is an ideal opportunity for Newport neighbours, friends and families to come together in a relaxed atmosphere, roll out the picnic rugs and enjoy a sense of Christmas magic as the sun goes down across the bay,’’ Mr Laner said.

“Events like these align with Stockland’s philosophy of building strong, connected communities and what better way to herald the start of the Christmas season than in such a beautiful location.’’

A mouth-watering sausage sizzle will be available on the night to keep the crowds fed, along with a range of non-alcoholic drinks.

Newport occupies a prime position in Brisbane’s thriving northern growth corridor on the Redcliffe Peninsula and is located 36 kilometres from Brisbane CBD.

The community will be home to more than 5,000 residents upon completion with almost 2,000 dwellings and a future town centre.

Upon completion, Newport will also feature proposed waterside dining, leafy foreshore parks, kilometres of cycling and walking paths, a 22-hectare lake with deep water, high mast boat access to Moreton Bay and easy access to schools, shops, health facilities, public transport and beaches.
