Councillor for Division 10 Matt Constance made the announcement today and encouraged residents to head down to Bunya to not miss the two teams battle it out at Bunya.
“Moreton Bay Region isn’t just a beautiful place to live and visit it’s also growing in popularity as a destination for major sporting events and competition,” Cr Constance said.
“While it’s an honour to see athletes from overseas head to our region for this game, it also confirms that council is delivering fantastic sporting infrastructure that is highly valued.
“These events also provide us an impetus to keep on creating more sporting infrastructure to host even more great events, generate local jobs, support local businesses and promote active healthy lifestyles in our communities.
“This game will undoubtedly put our region on the map and that’s something we can all be very proud about.”
Pine Hills Lightning Baseball Club President Simon Tame said the competition would provide plenty of benefits to the region.
“If we can attract more of this type of competition, it will open up more opportunities for the club both at home and abroad,” Mr Tame said.
“We are grateful to Baseball Queensland for offering us this opportunity to hold this game at James Drysdale Reserve between Brisbane Bandits and Osaka Gas.
“The works that have been done to the grounds in the past few years has made us one of the premier grounds in the metro Brisbane area thanks to Moreton Bay Regional Council and with the addition of the second field in the future will make it easier to host more games next year.
