Having a job at the end of his degree is a wish that’s been granted to University of the Sunshine Coast engineering student James Miller.
The Pelican Waters resident was recently awarded the Unitywater Engineering (Environment and Water) scholarship at the USC 2017 Engineering Awards.
The scholarship includes a $10,000 monetary prize, work experience and guaranteed employment in Unitywater’s three-year Graduate Development Program.
James has also been offered paid work experience in Unitywater’s 12-week Vacation Program from December.
“I am so grateful to Unitywater for this opportunity,” Mr Miller said.
“Coming from Roma in South West Queensland, I have witnessed the importance of water management through extreme droughts and flooding. With this experience, water engineering was appealing to me.
“The Vacation Program will give me a head start in my career with Unitywater and I’m very excited about it.”
Unitywater Executive Manager People Culture and Safety Kenan Hibberd said James was an excellent candidate for the scholarship.
“James impressed the interview panel with his technical knowledge and genuine interest in the water industry,” Mr Hibberd said.
“We look forward to welcoming James to Unitywater.”
